I'm writing this from my bed.
I'm trying to make the most of it as this will be my last sleep at home for a while... Bus leaves tomorrow from Santander at 1pm, arriving at Barcelona at 11pm, where I have to wait an hour and a half to then get the 01.35 bus to Carcassonne. I get into Carcassonne at 6 am, and won't be picked up till 8 am, so I might take a walk and visit the town.
My huge backpack is nearly done - I feel as if I might be taking too many clothes which I'll then want to get rid of, but it's hard to be selective when you're travelling for 2 months and a half.
Just been out for a nice meal with my parents, and saying goodnight was pretty emotional. I know I'll have a good time, and I know this is a good thing - but I always find it hard leaving home. As always, it's hard to break away from comfort and security. I'm not nervous, but I am slightly apprehensive about being on my own. However, this will hopefully push me to be more independent and to reach out and communicate with the people around me.
Wish me luck!

Starting off
Ok, so this is my blog! First entry! Thought I'd just outline what I'm going to be doing for the first two weeks of my travels around France. I should be setting off on the 31st March to start work on the 1st April. First place I'm going to be staying at is 20 km off Carcassonne: It's a farm with almond and fig trees, and also a vineyard. It is owned by a French couple who have 9 sons (all 40-something and not living at home) and I'm supposed to be helping out with pruning the vines, and hopefully eating lots of home-made fig jam.
